Our history

The beginning of a great story in transportation and logistics

Our history at TYT Group began in 1980 with the founding of Les Transports Yvon Turcotte by Nicole and Yvon Turcotte. We specialized in palletizing and transporting peat moss products in the early years. Our company grew quickly, introducing Patrick and Mickael, the two sons, to the world of transportation.

The legacy of Mr. Yvon Turcotte

Following Mr. Turcotte’s passing in 1996, his sons Patrick and Mickael and his brother Jean‑Marc inherited the company. At the time, our fleet consisted of 9 trucks and approximately 20 employees. Initially, our goal was straightforward: to continue doing good work and keep satisfying our clients.

By listening to the growing needs of our clients and discovering new markets, our vision has evolved. We understood that to truly help our partners, we needed to become more than just a carrier. We had to become a strategic partner capable of offering complete transportation and logistics solutions.

From Transport Yvon Turcotte to TYT Group

In 2006, we developed rail transportation services to better serve our clients and diversify our transportation offerings. The acquisition of Richmond Logistique also allowed us to add warehouses and begin offering warehousing services.

Next, the purchase of BR Logistique in 2010 solidified our expertise in container transportation.

In 2012, we officially became TYT Group by acquiring Transport Desrosiers, a company specializing in oversized transportation.

By 2015, we had 550 trailers and trucks and over 225 employees. Teamwork, open‑mindedness, authenticity, performance, and attentiveness were already integral to our company values.

Innovation, the engine of growth

We wanted to improve our efficiency, fuel economy, and driver recruitment. Innovation has been at the heart of every decision, including installing dual‑fuel diesel‑propane conversion systems and adding vehicle telematics systems on many of our trucks.

We also became distributors of the European Combilift system, which facilitates transloading. With the Turcotte brothers at the helm of our company, innovation and technological improvements to our fleet of trucks and equipment always remain top priorities.

Over the years, we have become one of the top 20 carriers in Quebec and one of the 100 largest in Canada, and we are very proud of it.

We now serve the entire North American continent as well as international destinations. We have developed tremendous expertise in transportation and logistics to become your trusted partner every day.

Your products are in good hands thanks to our 8 strategically located sites, 565,000 square feet of indoor storage, 73 acres of land spread across 6 outdoor storage yards, our transloading centres, our modern fleet of trucks and equipment, and our access to the main rail networks in Canada and the United States.

Today, more than 300 employees are driven by the same determination as in our early days, answering a simple question: How can we serve you better?
